Bad Girl Beginnings

Whether we're writers, artists, entrepreneurs, or moms extraordinaire, it behooves all Bad Girls to make meaningful connections with like-minded women. Who knows? We may even be able to change some of the insanity we see by harnessing our BG energy and directing it into the world wide web.

Main BG
Pari Noskin Taichert

The Basics

My life manifests a typical BG theme: to understand the big picture and expand the box so far the edges fall off. I've studied seven languages and lived in France, Hong Kong, and Puerto Rico.

My pedigree includes a BA in Asian Studies and a MSW in cross-cultural therapy, both from the U of Michigan. I was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico. After my peripatetic youth, I had the good sense to come home. I married quite late and had children even later. Underneath my normal exterior lurks a contrary spirit that informs everything I do.

Making Money

I've taught belly dancing, worked as a waitress, baked enough breads to fill a small house, labored as a research analyst, taught French, sold textbooks for a major publisher, toiled as an immigration paralegal-you get the picture. In the late 80's, I realized all of my real-life training yielded skills perfectly suited to public relations.

Public Relations Rocks

I've been working specifically in PR for more than 15 years and have won an award or two in the process. But it's not the recognition from my peers that keeps me intrigued. Though PR gets a bad rap, I've always loved its challenges-to find and tell the story well and communicate it to the best audiences. It's a positive gas to help people learn to promote themselves and their products.

Even more than PR, I love to write

Author
Though, I've only earned one advance so far, I hope to make my living through fiction. The University of New Mexico Press will publish my mystery, The Clovis Incident, in February 2004. My author's web site is www.parinoskintaichert.com

Nonfiction Writer
My writing has appeared in feature articles, columns, advertisements, press releases, business plans, annual reports, newsletters-you name it.

You can read my nonfiction on the following sites. Search for "Pari Noskin Taichert."

If you want to read more of my literary columns at the Albuquerque Tribune Online, there's a tedious but effective way to call them up. Since they appear the third Friday of the month, you can figure out the url by keying in different dates. Examples:
For columns in 2003 such as the one on Jan. 17: www.abqtrib.com/archives/diversions03/011703_diversions_pari.shtml
For 2002, just replace the year and date. So, for the column on December 20, key in:

Pam Smith created the beautiful images on this site. We thank her for her generosity.
